The ending of the screenplay, with the head in the box, was originally part of an earlier draft that New Line had rejected, instead opting for an ending that involved more traditional elements of a detective thriller film with more action-oriented elements. Drama, excitement, and emotional engagement come from differences, from stories that seem new and unique. Here's what I think is going on
Rags to Riches: in which someone who seems quite commonplace or downtrodden but has the potential for greatness manages to fulfill that potential. I don't want it to be just flipping through pages, as beautiful as they are. Based on this comparison, I think we can say that Booker's seven basic plots actually follow the same four-act structure described in Dramatica. The fact that neither the hero nor the audience can be certain what the right choice is makes stories less predictable, and therefore more engaging.
Reading this, I was hoping for a little more insight into the ending and also something that I felt was never properly wrapped up in the film. Booker doesn't refer specifically to the other three drivers, but then neither do most literary critics, probably because these drivers don't stand out as much from a reader's perspective though they are quite important from a story writer's perspective. Most male characters and most men are linear thinkers and most female characters and most women are holistic thinkers.
Visually and stylistically, that's how we wanted to portray this world.
I was surprised by how similar they are. Some of the texts are allegedly translated from a text written by Canaanite magicians and keepers of the Samaritan Pentateuch in the "Cuthan-Samaritan language", a language considered extinct since the 12th century.
Renton's grandfather orders him to deliver a special part to the Nirvash called the Amita Drivewhich releases the immense power dormant within the typeZERO called the "Seven Swell Phenomenon". Washington later regretted turning down the role.
Booker argues that many variations on the seven basic plots are unsatisfying because they do not fulfill the basic goal of recovering the feminine principle.
Some are similar to archetypal characters found in Dramatica. Many of the stories Booker uses as examples of bad storytelling have been exceedingly popular Star Wars, for example. Stuck in people-pleasing or fear, many women hide and pretend, then end up sidelined in their own lives. Booker did not write The Seven Basic Plots for the benefit of writers but as a work of literary scholarship, particularly for those interested in psychoanalytic theory. In colonial Gold Coast and Nigeriait was seen as a "western" form of magic that might be used by educated Africans seeking access to Britain or its power, much like Masonic ritual or Rosicrucianism.
